How much do updates cost? Presently, it costs less than $1000 per year to maintain complete ongoing coverage for Ottotest diagnostic software.
What are the PC requirements? Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later, minimum of 3GB free space in disk, minimum 1GB of RAM (2GB for Vista or 7), 1 available USB port, DVD drive, high-speed internet connection, WiFi 802.11 b/g network card (for optional wireless).
What vehicles does it cover? GM/Saturn, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity, Mazda, Kia and Hyundai are covered.
What functions does it perform? OE-level functions for Powertrain, Body and Chassis modules including bi-directional controls. A list of vehicles and functions is available here.

OTTOTEST Hardware FAQ:
Is Ottotest ready to go out of the box? Yes, you can use Ottotest immediately. After 30 days you will be required to obtain an activation code.
How does the PC connect to the VCI? By default, the VCI communicates through a USB 2.0 standard connector to a PC. The optional WiFi-enabled VCI allows the option of communicating directly to the PC (called ad-hoc) or connecting through the network infrastructure in your shop, all wirelessly.
Is it durable? The VCI is a compact, ruggedized device with no moving parts that comes with a 3 year warranty, while the optional tablet PC is easy to handle and operates without the need for a fragile keyboard which may also get gunked-up over time.
How does the tablet PC work without a keyboard? The tablet PC features a touch screen that allows quick and intuitive interaction with the graphical interface of Windows and Ottotest. All the same functionality is available as with a keyboard.

iFlash FAQ:
How much do updates cost? Updates for the iFlash programming software are free. However keep in mind that each manufacturers charge different amounts for access to their calibration files and programming software. The pricing options for each manufacturer are listed here [OE J2534 web info] along with a link to their websites.
What
What vehicles can I program? All manufacturers who sell vehicles in the US or Canada are programmable with iFlash, though some offer more programming functions than others. The different levels of programming capability are listed here [What does iFlash cover].
Can I program keys, dashboards, radios? Only keys for Ford vehicles are programmable using iFlash. All other manufacturers restrict key programming to licensed locksmiths who are registered NASTF Vehicle Security Professionals. Dashboards on Ford, GM and Chrysler vehicles are programmable using iFlash where the manufacturer allows it. Radios cannot be programmed with iFlash.
How much do I charge the customer for a flash? The typical rate for performing an ECU update is one hour’s labor.
Is it easy to use iflash? iFlash is likely the easiest reprogramming system available. Step-by-step illustrated are provided with the software,and any new developments are announced automatically in the iFlash Message Board to alert you to changes as soon as they occur. Finally,we provide free tech support to clear up any confusion or unexpected problems.
